The Arts
Music
In line with the Victorian Curriculum, Music learning at Canterbury Primary School is broken into four main sections: Creating and Composing, Reading and Notating, Listening and Responding and Musical Awareness.
Delivered in a hands on and interactive manner, students have access to a variety of tuned and untuned instruments such as ukulele, keyboard, guitar, drums, glockenspiel and xylophone. Students also have access to technologies such as iPads and laptops to create and record their own compositions.
A senior school production takes place every second year, where students combine the Performing Arts mediums of Music, Dance and Drama.

Complementing the music program, students can also take part in choir, orchestra and after school music tuition.

Visual Arts
The Visual Art program at Canterbury PS aims to develop student’s technical and creative skills across a range of art mediums including Textiles, Ceramics, Printmaking, Collage, Painting, Digital Media, Drawing and Construction.
Through focused projects, students increase their understanding of art and artists throughout history, understanding how they may influence our art today.
To balance this approach, students are also encouraged to develop their own problem solving and critical and creative thinking skills by pursuing personal artistic projects and challenges.
