Physical Education is fun at Canterbury Primary School and allows students to develop their physical skills and teamwork.
Extracurricular activities are offered, such as running club are available in Terms 2 and 3.
Prep students learn and develop their fundamental skills, such as running, jumping, skipping, throwing, catching, kicking and bouncing. These skills are further developed in Year 1 and 2 and then utilized into game situations in Year 3 and 4. With Year 4 students, taking ownership of the game and participating in a SEPEP model.
Incorporating student voice, Year 5 and 6 students are part of the planning process in Physical Education and contribute to what they will be learning. They are also given the opportunity to represent the school in interschool sports.
Students in Prep and Year 1 participate in a weekly PMP program.
Year 3-6 students at Canterbury Primary School participate in the annual house cross country, athletics and swimming carnivals. With the junior students having their own mini cross-country carnival.
Each student from Prep- Year 3, participate in sessions of intensive swimming lessons each year.
Students represent Canterbury Primary in the Kooyong District for School Sport Victoria. Students are given the opportunity to represent the school in interschool sports, including swimming, cross country and athletics, along with special Gala days, which include Girls Australian Rules Football Day, Milo Cricket and Basketball.
