From the Principal
By David Wells
Welcome back to the new school year to all families, especially the 104 Prep students who joined us last week. Also a special welcome to new students in years 1 to 6. This takes our total enrolment to 627 students in 28 classes.
Welcome to new staff members this year:
Charlotte Hoy (Year 2), Lauren McKenzie (Year 3), Alex Pecker (Year 4), Tom Coleman (Year 4), Ellen Myers (Year 5), Catherine Kelly (Year 5), Cassie Truong (Art) and Madeline Russo (Health). Canterbury has established strong staff
induction processes and new staff have been engaging with our school throughout Term 4 last year and over the school holidays ensuring that they are already very much part of our staff team by the start of the school year.
Congratulations to everyone for ensuring that we had a smooth and positive start to the 2019 school year. This includes staff who have worked hard to prepare for a great year in their new teams, parents who have prepared their children for a smooth transition and students who have come back to school with great eagerness for the learning that will take place and excitement about the year ahead. Over the summer break, a number of projects were undertaken through the school including the delivery and installation of a relocatable to accommodate our growth in student numbers as well as painting and carpeting of the administration areas of the Creativity Centre.
